Frozen Chocolate Banana Bites

FrozenBananaBites-5+

People love to talk about the weather. It's just part of human DNA. We also like to complain about the weather. You know we all do it. I was running today with baby E in the stroller and I checked the weather channel and it said it was 85 degrees at the time. I ran and boy was it hot. Then I recalled the days I lived in Texas and ran in much hotter temps, but I am simply not used to them now. On the other hand I hate running when it's too cold. If it's under 60 degrees I want no part of it. It seems like when it's summer I am longing for the fall and when it's winter I am eager for … [Read more...]

Kid-Friendly Fried Rice

FriedRice-1-2+

I would normally say I prefer pasta over rice, but lately I have been cooking a ton of rice lately. When I was a kid I loved eating plain white rice with butter. However, I wanted to cook something a little more special than buttered white rice for our Friday night grilled salmon dinner. Now Chinese food is definitely not a favorite for my kids, but I had this idea that they would love a basic version of fried rice because they love scrambled eggs and they like peas and carrots. If I were making this for me, I would've used sesame oil and a lot more ginger and garlic but I had my kids in … [Read more...]

Green Ways to Pack A Lunch

photo-63-1

Hi friends! Today I want to talk about environmentally friendly ways to pack a lunch.  I always keep foil, saran wrap and plastic baggies on hand, but we rarely use them for our lunches because there are so many great reusable options. For the month of August my three oldest are all attending my daughter's year round Montessori school. They offer such a great curriculum and fun summer camps so everyone is super excited. The sweet owner of the school even offered my two year old (who will be 3 in November) a chance to attend for the month of August as well, his first time. I have been … [Read more...]

Homemade Coconut Cream Pie Larabars

CoconutCreamLaraBar-2+

Hi friends! It's good to be back! I ended up taking 2 weeks off of blogging after my husband came home from his 9 month deployment. If you missed our homecoming pictures you can see them here. He's had a light work schedule since he got back so I couldn't get enough family time. It's funny how it took no time at all for things to go back to normal. We are just thrilled to have him home again. He arrived the Monday night, Memorial Day, then that first weekend our good friends from Texas came to visit us which was totally awesome. They have 4 kids the same ages as ours but ever since we … [Read more...]

Chocolate Chip Cookie Balls {Vegan, Gluten Free}

CookieBalls-3+

The world of blogging really jumped on the snack ball bandwagon. I am pretty sure you'd be hard-pressed to find a food blogger without a "ball" recipe on their blog. And for good reason. They're the perfect snack. I started making balls over 6 years ago  (sorry if "making balls" sounds weird to you, but I simply can't call them anything else) when we were living in Austin and I wanted snacks to have on hand while I was nursing my firstborn. I made them very simply with peanut butter and oats and dipped them in melted chocolate. To this day they are one of my favorite … [Read more...]

Cooking With Kids & Resurrection Cookies

Cooking With Kids | www.nutritiouseats.com

The kitchen has always been the center of our home. My parent's kitchen has always been THE place to congregate- there is a huge island and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out to their backyard. Whenever I go home, cooking dinner with extending family is what we do. The wine is poured, the appetizers are out and dinner in progress. It's always such a lovely time. Those face-to-face conversations in the kitchen are priceless and always flow so naturally over cooking food. Because of growing up with a focus on the kitchen as a place to gather, I love getting my children involved in … [Read more...]

Stonyfield Greek Yogurt & A Perfect Parfait

Parfait-1

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Stonyfield. My kids have a Greek yogurt every morning for breakfast. No exaggeration. They are kind of obsessed. It's great because while I am getting my coffee they can go out to our garage fridge where we stock the bulk food and grab their yogurt and start eating. Makes my life a little easier in the morning...at least for about 5 minutes until they are done. I have been buying Stonyfield organic yogurts since the kids were babies. YoBaby was always stocked in our fridge so when I received this wonderful package from … [Read more...]

Christmas Cookie Round-Up

ChristmasCookieRoundUp3

I don't bake a whole lot of cookies year round, with the exception of good ol' chocolate chip cookies so when it comes December I LOVE trying new cookie recipes. Baking is just more fun in December. It's a fact. Cookies are great to bring to the Holiday table, office party or just to have on hand for Santa. Like I said in my last post, I always do roll-out sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies to decorate with the kids, but as you can see from this Christmas Cookie Round-Up, there are so many more options! I absolutely love these peanut butter kiss cookies . They are flourless, gluten … [Read more...]

Monsters University Birthday Party

MonstersUniversityParty-7

Ahh, I can finally take a deep breath. My oldest turned 7 this weekend and we celebrated with a party for his school friends. I tend to get a little anxious up about things like birthday parties. I enjoy the planning but the actual execution stresses me out. This year since Daddy wasn't going to be around I wanted to keep it simple. Let me first start by saying that being almost 7 months pregnant and lugging around a crying almost 2 year old (yes he cried the entire party) while trying to set up for a party is NEVER simple. Although I didn't need to plan any extravagant games or things like … [Read more...]

Kiddie Meal: Turkey Meatball Soup | ww.nutritiouseats.com

Kids’ tastes in food are one of life’s great mysteries. For example, one day your daughter's favorite vegetable is carrots, the next day she won't go near them. I actually put on my best sales voice earlier this week to try to convince my daughter that she does indeed like bean and cheese quesadillas. If this sounds like mealtime at your house, you’re in luck. Campbell’s gives you a fresh way to delight your family through the recipes section of their website,campbellskitchen.com (new, kid-friendly recipes like Mini Chicken Pot Pies, and fun ways for your kids to eat tomato soup … [Read more...]
