Fitness Friday: Making Exercise a Priority During Pregnancy

It's been awhile since I did a Fitness Friday post, mainly because over the last 6 months I haven't felt very inspiring. I am happy to be able to blame the decreased activity on my pregnancy, but after getting over the first trimester nausea, I have been exercising on a regular basis over the last 3 months. I have always stayed active and exercised during my pregnancies even though the workouts aren't nearly as intense as normal. So after feeling uninspiring for the last few months, this week I thought you know what? I have a lot to be proud of. I am exercising consistently 4 days a week- … [Read more...]

For Two Fitness® Review

I mentioned in a previous post that I am a newly appointed For Two Fitness® Ambassador. I purchased one of their tanks a couple months ago after hearing great things about them. As soon as the bump was big enough to fill it out a little, I started wearing it to the gym. I literally get several compliments every time I wear it because it is just so cute. It also happens to be super comfortable and I love the way it fits. You might think the form fitting tops might not be as flattering but after wearing it I realized I prefer the baby bump to be obvious especially at the gym when I am more apt … [Read more...]

Vacation Workout

Ribbet Edit1

Greetings from San Antonio! Just stopping in for a quick visit. Vacation is off to a great start. We went to Fredericksburg, Texas for a few days to visit my in-laws and every time I go there I am reminded at how much I love that town. It's a small town yet there is a lot to do- adorable shops, museums, wineries, etc. Of course I didn't take any pictures of the town but we mostly had fun family time. If you are ever in the San Antonio/Austin area you should definitely go! Now that I am back at my parents house we are letting the kids lead the way and set the agenda. So far we have crossed … [Read more...]

Fitness Friday

Dirty Dozen

Oh Friday, I am so happy you are here! I realized I haven't given you an update on my injured foot and I am sure you are all dying to know how it's feeling. Right? Right. So I took a good 2 weeks off from running after I went to the Doctor. I bought new running shoes that are good for high arches, such as mine. I took ibuprofen daily. I waited patiently for the pain to magically disappear. Um yeah, that didn't happen. I couldn't wait any longer so I decided to test it out. Since my rest period ended I have done about 4 runs, at no more than 3-4 miles per run. I am so frustrated that the … [Read more...]

What’s In Your Fitness Closet?

Ribbet collagetops2

Being a stay-at-home mom who exercises on a regular basis allows for me to dress, um shall we say comfortably? The good news is that I always have make-up on and my hair is combed upon leaving the house to take my son to school! Yay me. I'll admit though I put on workout clothes first thing in the morning about 95% percent of the time. When I am really on top of things, I workout, shower and put on regular clothes before leaving but that isn't the norm. Luckily the exercise clothes they make these days are SO cute. I have to say Nike, Lululemon, Under Armour and Athleta make up the majority … [Read more...]

Fitness Friday: A Workout & Tips for Seeing Results

Nutritious Eats

I've had a great week of workouts. It's funny what the mind can do when it comes to exercise. I just felt like stepping it up and once Monday rolled around I pushed myself more than I have lately. I got in a nice variety- 2 days of treadmill running, 2 days of Insanity and 1 day of weights. I plan on doing a long outside run on Saturday with a new neighborhood running group. It will be my first run with them and I am hoping I like it because that is probably the only way I will be fitting in long runs in this cold weather. I need the motivation! (pictured above: sporting a few of my new … [Read more...]

Fitness Friday: No-Equipment Needed Workouts + San Diego

Greetings from San Diego! I am so happy to be back here visiting. The last time I was here, over 6 years ago, and I was 5 months pregnant with my first child! I loved my time in San Diego. I originally moved with a high school friend because we were looking for a change. I was just finishing my Dietetic Internship in Boston and she was working in San Francisco. We decided if were going to find jobs in San Diego we just needed to move there. So we did! I took the first job I interviewed with at Scripps Mercy Hospital with their WIC program. I really enjoyed working with the high risk … [Read more...]

Fitness Friday! Six No-Equiment Needed Workouts!

The weekend is here! I am super excited because my hubby has been out of town all week and it's always extra exhausting taking care of 3 young children solo. I feel for you single parents out there. I will be handing off the kids first thing Saturday morning when I plan on getting a good long run in and go for a haircut! Thrilled for both actually! As I've mentioned before, it's hard to make it to a gym when you've got several young children so I love to share at-home workouts or ones that you can do on a lunch break if you work. When I worked a few years ago, I never took a real lunch … [Read more...]

Fitness Friday: 25-Minute Anywhere Workout

Turkey Chili

I have been doing a lot of quick workouts around here lately. Baby R still takes two naps and I try my best to let him take them at home which means I usually skip the morning gym for a treadmill run or at-home workout. I do miss the good ol' days of kid-free workout sessions, but I'll take what I can get! I have been enjoying this one lately. It takes ~ 25 minutes and I call it my garage workout because that is where I do it, but it's great for hotel rooms, inside, outside, the gym, etc. Sometimes I'll do a quick 1 mile run on the treadmill and then just one round of these exercises. … [Read more...]
