Meal Planning

March 12, 2012 by Melanie 6 Comments

Hope you all had a great weekend. I am a little over a week into my vacation visiting family in Texas. I meant to post this yesterday, but totally forgot as I ran off to Austin to catch up with friends. In addition to my sweet friends, I am loving all the restaurants and food shops that we don’t have in small town, Missouri. I am sending home a big care package (to myself) which will contain all sorts of goodies to cook with when I get back. I am so excited!

Before I get to meal planning, I have a” housekeeping” item to bring to your attention. It seems like Google has done a bit of spring cleaning- they’ve done away with Picnik (a free photo editing program) and as of March 1st, Google Friend Connect for all non-blogger sites (such as mine which is on wordpress). What that means is if you signed up to follow my blog using Google Friend Connect, my post updates will no longer show up in your dashboard. If you have no idea what I am talking about, I included the only pic I could find. This results in a huge loss of followers for so many bloggers so be sure to find another way to follow the blogs you love.

What I recommend, because you can’t NOT follow my blog anymore….is to sign up to follow either by rss or email subscription. That will allow you to know when I post to blog. In addition to that, you can follow my facebook page and twitter which are more for communicating with me and reading tidbits of nutrition info.

All of those little symbols in my sidebar will get you to various ways to follow- twitter, facebook, email or rss subscription.

But to make it easy on you (you know so you don’t have to glance over to the right sidebar) you can just click on one of the links below:

Here is the link to add my blog to your reader of choice via rss

Here is the link to my facebook page

Here is the link to my twitter page

and if you just prefer to receive emails when I update the blog, just enter your address over in the box in the sidebar. Don’t forget to verify your account once you get that initial email from feedburner. I have a ton of people with unverified accounts because they didn’t click on that initial link sent to them once they signed up.

So sorry for such a BORING post, but I hate to lose so many followers! Not to mention you losing a lot of blogs that you follow and might really like.

Ok, enough of that. Let’s start meal planning. I am still planning for my husband’s week and not mine since I am eating out, having my parent’s cook for me, etc. If I posted my meal plan it would look like this: mexican food, mexican food, BBQ, mexican food….

Menu for the Week of March 12th

Sunday
Egg Tacos, Guacamole, Mixed Green Salad

Monday
Jambalaya, Mixed Veggies

Tuesday
Chicken Fajitas

Wednesday
Leftovers

Thursday
Turkey and Cheese Panini, Mixed Green Salad, Fruit Salad

Friday
Vegetarian Chili

Saturday
Pizza

So tell me, what are you cooking this week?

I used to make a crustless quiche and I haven’t made it in years. Need to put that on the menu soon! How are things in MO?! Is your training going well?

    Our plan is…
    Sun–BBQ beef sandwiches for company
Mon–was taco salad but since we have now spent every waking moment outside today it might be taco salad
Tues– vegan gf pasta pie with a garden salad for us and the smith’s
Wed–spring rolls which might be changed to taco salad
    Thurs–leftovers or spring rolls
    Fri–homemade pizza
Sat–new year soup got bumped last week

I forget about making taco salad. Thanks for the reminder. Toby was looking for an easy meal so instead of fajitas I might suggest taco salad. 🙂 This is why I love hearing your comments!

Monday: Asian salad and coconut curry peanut soup
Tuesday: Gretchen’s pasta pie with salad, and mashed potatoes for some visiting friends
Wednesday: Wish me luck…stir fried terikayi tofu and veggies! I have never purchased tofu! A little nervous how this will go!!
Thursday: Kids wanted to go get sushi as one of their spring break fun splurges 🙂
    Friday: pizza night

Enjoy your time in Texas! If you want to work out, holler!

I think you will like the tofu. I love it now. I recommend marinating it for at least 30 minutes to absorb some of the flavors otherwise it tastes like nothing! 😉 Even if it’s garlic, spices, lime juice, whatever! What is your schedule again ? I would love to squeeze in a class if possible! 🙂
