Stitch Fix 8 & 9

November 30, 2014 by Melanie 15 Comments

Hello friends! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent the day at our house, with friends and it was perfect. I made the sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, homemade green bean casserole (none of the canned stuff), roasted brussels with apples and pecan, apple and pumpkin pie! I have been known to be in control of the kitchen around here, but the hubs is slowly getting more responsibility as this is the first year of holidays since we had our 4th child (who by the way turns one next month- eek!) and boy is it hard to get stuff done!

Since the hubs likes cooking and smoking meat, I assigned him the turkey. He partially smoked it, then finished it in the oven which gave it a slightly different flavor. Over all the night was a big success.

Yesterday we had our first snow day which the kids absolutely loved. We set up our tree and had family night watching the new movie we bought, Maleficent. Has anyone else seen it? Loved it!

So today we are talking fashion and I am sharing my recent Stitch Fixes with you.

I got to of my most favorite things from Stitch Fix a couple months ago, but then then I almost had to break up with them. I don’t know what happened, but my boxes starting going down hill. I will fill you in today, but overall I still love this service and look forward to seeing what they send.

Stitch Fix 8

Laina 3/4 Sleeve Striped Tie-Waist Dress
This dress was so comfortable, but unfortunately just too short. I am not sure I would’ve gotten a ton of wear out of it because I get cold easily and it’s winter and even if I paired this with thick tights I think I’d be cold. It was a high of 35 yesterday!

Benfield Heathered Drape Front Cardigan
I have told you of my obsession for cardigans. One can really never have too many. This one meets all the requirements- comfortable and cute!

Status: Kept

Ivy Abstract Floral Print Blouse
The cut of this blouse reminded me a lot of the first two I got with Stitch Fix and I really didn’t need another one like it. I wasn’t crazy about the print either.

Sylvia Front Zip Crossbody Tote
In this fix I asked for a large cross-body bag because the previous one they sent I wasn’t fond of. They pulled through with this one. I just love this gorgeous bag that is big enough for some of the kid’s stuff as well as mine. I love the color too and it was affordable. Even better!

Oops, as I am writing this I can’t find the picture of it! I will have to take a new one and upload it tomorrow!

Status: Kept

Redding Abstract Tie Dye Dolman Sleeve Tote
Wearing this shirt was like wearing pajamas. Really comfy but it didn’t do much for me otherwise. I did like that it wasn’t too expensive. At $34 I think it’s the least expensive item I’ve received.

So I kept 2 out of 5 which is pretty good I think and better for my wallet too!

  Stitch Fix 9

So my daughter took these photos which explains the weird angle on some of them. They were so blurry I had to make a collage.

SF

1. Faye Skinny Jeans
I requested some gray denim and they sent me these charcoal skinnys. These were darker than the gray I wanted. I really don’t need another pair of skinny jeans at the moment, although I probably would’ve gotten a lot of wear out of these. They are same brand as my other two skinny jeans which both have held up well despite all the wear. However, these were 32 inch inseam. I am not sure why a stylist would send someone who is 5’3″ a 32 inch inseam. What you really can’t tell in the photo is that they were rolled 3 times and just didn’t look great in person with that big of a cuff. And I wasn’t about to pay extra on hemming.

Status: Returned

2. Burgdorf Diamond Printed Henley Blouse
I requested neutrals this box and I got this? Definitely too bold of a pattern for what I was wanting.

Status: Returned

3. Delroy Scarf Print Cross-Front Blouse
Kind of cute, but just too pattern-y for me. The other problem I have it with those spaghetti straps. I mean I wear I big ol’ nursing bra. I can’t do strapless and anything else I own would show. I realize I would be wearing a cardigan over this top, but I like to make sure the wardrobe functions if I didn’t have one on.

Status: Returned

4. Sierra Printed Dolman Top
Once again I was sent a big ol’ baggie top. I keep telling them that I don’t need such flowey, boxy items. This top looked worse on me in person.

Status: Returned

5. Salma Striped French Terry Essential Blazer
I also requested a casual blazer. Out of the box I though maybe this would work. It was soft and definitely casual. The sleeves were too long and I was not a fan of the big shoulder pads. I think there is a better blazer out there for me, especially at $128!

Status: Returned

So I returned the whole box. I was definitely disappointed with the last box especially because of my requests, but it’s ok. I actually got another box this week so more on that one next time!

I’ve been getting lots of flowy tops in my fixes lately too (at least one per fix) despite my repeated requests for no more! I actually kept one or two from my earlier packages but I just don’t need/want anymore. Sometimes I feel like the stylist doesn’t actually read the comments!

I know! That is how I’ve felt lately. I seriously give them some pretty detailed stuff that they tend to ignore. Kind of weird! Luckily I am happy if I just like 1 item. 😉

It really was! Too bad it was so short- seriously I felt like I was wearing an old cheerleading uniform.

I had to break up with Stitch Fix for a few months. I just wasn’t happy with what I was getting. That and it seemed like the same thing each time. I’ve got another coming next month. Fingers crossed it’s better!

You should! It’s definitely a treat and I usually find at least one item I like (with the exception of this one box). 😉

I really like the grey striped dress and could have kept it — it was in the 80s in Austin yesterday

It was even cuter on! And I’m pretty small, only 5’3″ so stuff is rarely too short. 🙁
