Freedom Together: Benefits of Wearing Your Baby

September 25, 2013 by Melanie 4 Comments

Ribbet Edit

BabyWearing-1

I have worn all my babies. Although I own several wraps and pouches, they didn’t work out for me like a baby carrier. When I saw the price tag of the style of baby carrier I wanted I though it was outrageous. Little did I know I would use it on all 3 kiddos! Money well spent for sure.

Why use a baby carrier? Well for me wearing my baby is simply more convenient, I love having my babies close to me while being hands-free to do other things, being able to smell them, kiss them, all while forming that lifelong bond with them. Mine all seemed to be happier babies when I wore them and it just turns out they are pretty happy, easy-going children now.

I personally also loved the security and comfort knowing the baby is literally attached to me. I could put my focus on other things especially when shopping or running errands and worry less about someone running off with the stroller or wrestling baby out when he or she was fussy. We also used our baby carriers when the kids were toddlers for hiking, long walks or large-crowds like street fairs, festivals, etc.

I am on the fence of ordering a new one for baby #4. I don’t really need one but since mine is a little older there are a few extra features on the newer ones. Whether I buy a new one or not, one thing is for sure, I will be wearing this baby.

If I do end up buying a new one this is the one I want. I just adore the print and style of this Boba baby carrier (to check out their carriers and wraps click HERE).

Boba

First off it can be used from 7 to 45 pounds (my almost 5 year old isn’t even 45 pounds just to give you an idea) which means you can use it well into toddlerhood. This one is 100% cotton has an ergonomic design, which allows for several adjustments (great for me or my husband) and has a removable sleeping hood. It has high grade military buckles so you don’t have to worry about things popping open and baby falling out! Plus it has several pockets for on-the-go storage.

Mine baby carrier is similar to this design and I can’t say enough good things about this style of baby carrier.

Benefits of Wearing Your Baby:

  • allows parent to be hands-free
  •

  • convenient to bring baby along where strollers might be hard to maneuver
  •

  • great for cold weather to keep baby close and warm
  •

  • allow for easy access to breastfeeding
  •

  • can be worn by mom or dad, on the chest or the back
  •

  • comfort- ergonomically friendly carriers should make carrying your child easier on your body
  •

  • allow for bonding with your baby

I’ve got a few pinned on my baby/parenting Pinterest board…

If you haven’t tried baby carriers, I can’t say enough good things about them! Feel free to contact me with any questions!

Because I had two babies at one time, baby wearing wasn’t as often as I liked. Wearing two babies at the same time? Not going to happen! But there were times when I’d strap one to me just so I could get things done around the house. Or if it was both the hubs and I, we’d each wear one. It was awesome!

LOVE baby wearing! I have a new carrier for this one but also have a wrap and will be ordering a sling for around the house. I might be obsessed?
