Friday Favorites

August 8, 2014 by Melanie 17 Comments

Hi friends! I can’t believe another week has flown by.

Before long the kids will be back in school and we’ll be in fall. I don’t mind fast forwarding the time just a bit because I am eager to get back to our regular schedules with school and activities. Plus it’s been such a hot summer for Washington and since most of the homes don’t having A/C or ceiling fans for that matter, it’s hot! I don’t feel like cooking at all so we’ve been having a ton of salads.

I still have a lot of recipes to write but at least I got 3 posts up this week! It’s Friday so that means another installment of Friday Favorites!

Favorite recipe

This was one exception to our “salads for dinner in the summer” routine. I can’t remember the last time I had a big ol’ bowl of pasta (actually it wasn’t that big), but didn’t have much food in the house so I had to work with what I had. Luckily I did have all the ingredients for Cooking Light’s Fettucine Alfredo. I’ve made this recipe countless times over the year and it’s always a big hit. The veggies were fresh from my CSA box and SO good. This is a recipe you need to have in your binder.

Favorite new thing

I am so into layering necklaces these days. I got the sand-dollar necklace in Hawaii and have had the locket for years. Anyway, just my new obsession is all.

Favorite snack

I tried this brand of jerky for the first time during our vacation to Hawaii and I couldn’t be more obsessed. It is the best jerky I have ever had; it’s not crazy tough and chewy like most jerky- this turkey one is amazing.  Must find more…..Krave.

Favorite deal

I really don’t shop at Old Navy that much but this is my second great find that I’ve posted on Friday Favorites. These are the perfect t-shirts for the fall in my opinion. Dress them up with a fun necklace. They were on sale for $6.00 at my local Old Navy store over the weekend- I stocked up!

Favorite picture

I made a promise to myself to get back to taking pictures of my kids with my real camera. I have wanted to master taking photos of them in manual settings for a long time (I don’t have a problem with my food shots but kids are tough- they move a lot!) and when I get frustrated I tend to just put the camera away. I realize practice will help me, so my goal is to get it out at least once a week. She is my most willing model so all the pictures will probably be of her.

So that’s all I’ve got for Friday Favorites. I have some new easy recipes coming next week. Hope you all have a great weekend!

XO

I love layering necklaces too and really like that sand dollar one. I just bought some Krave jerky and can’t wait to try it out. Looks amazing. I keep telling myself that I’m finally going to learn how to use my DSLR…and then another year passes by. Sigh! Happy Friday Melanie!

Those tees are cute. I need more simple tees because, as you know, kids are messy! 😉

I always forget about Old Navy, I don’t the quality/compared to price of ALL their clothing is that great but sometimes they have great deals. I think I need to stop in there soon…

Lately, I’m loving peanut butter in and on everything. Watching my little girl walk around (just becoming a pro at it). Red grapes…they have been so sweet as of late!

I agree! Once in a while I find such a great deal that it’s worth checking in on occasion 🙂 I am not ready for my fourth to start walking- but it is such a cute stage!

I don’t love all of Old Navy’s clothes, I find some of the quality to be lacking but when I have a good find — I stock up.

Your photo is beautiful! I really want to get better at using my good camera!

Thanks Amalia! I have been practicing for years but I get lazy. I agree with you re Old Navy. I stopped shopping there because of the quality, but occasionally look online for the really good sales. I do like their t-shirts 🙂

Love that top from Old Navy. We don’t wear a lot of longer sleeved stuff here in Florida, but I could see myself wearing something like that later in the year when it’s cooler out. Nice find!
